Lamy, population approximately 200, is a small railroad community about 18 miles south of Santa Fe. The village grew around the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway depot — Santa Fe's rail line bypassed the capital city, making Lamy the closest station. Today, Amtrak's Southwest Chief still stops in Lamy, connecting the community to Chicago, Kansas City, and Los Angeles. The historic Legal Tender Saloon and Lamy Railroad and History Museum attract visitors. Properties in the Lamy area offer rural living with easy access to Santa Fe and I-25.
