Rio Rancho, population 104,046 (2020 Census), is New Mexico's third-largest city and one of its fastest-growing communities. Located just northwest of Albuquerque across the Rio Grande, Rio Rancho has evolved from a planned community founded in the 1960s into a full-service city with its own commercial centers, school district, and identity.

Housing Market

The city is known for newer construction, with many neighborhoods built since the 1990s. Loma Colorado and Cabezon are popular master-planned communities. The Enchanted Hills area in the northern part of the city offers mountain views and newer homes. Rio Rancho consistently offers more home for the money than Albuquerque proper, making it popular with families and first-time buyers.

Economy & Education

Intel Corporation's semiconductor facility has been Rio Rancho's anchor employer since 1980. Presbyterian Rust Medical Center provides healthcare employment. The Rio Rancho Public Schools district has grown rapidly and includes several highly-rated schools. The University of New Mexico operates a branch campus in Rio Rancho, and Central New Mexico Community College has a Rio Rancho facility.
