Doña Ana is a small unincorporated community in northern Doña Ana County along the Rio Grande, north of Las Cruces. The 2020 Census recorded a population of approximately 1,800 for the community. The village gives its name to the county and represents one of the oldest Spanish settlements in the Mesilla Valley, with a history dating to the colonial era. It retains an agricultural, semi-rural character with views of the Organ Mountains to the east and the Rio Grande bosque to the west.
Real Estate and Lifestyle
Real estate in Doña Ana is characterized by modest single-family homes, small agricultural parcels, and rural residential lots. Prices are generally lower than in Las Cruces proper, making it attractive to buyers who work in Las Cruces or at nearby White Sands Missile Range but prefer a quieter, more rural setting. Doña Ana is served by Las Cruces Public Schools. The proximity to both the Las Cruces urban core (approximately 10 miles south) and the open desert landscapes of the northern Mesilla Valley provides a balance of access and rural character.
