Belen, population approximately 7,300 (2020 Census), is a historic railroad town along the Rio Grande, about 35 miles south of Albuquerque. Known as the "Hub City" for its importance as a BNSF Railway junction, Belen has been a transportation crossroads since the early 1900s. The town is the southern terminus of the New Mexico Rail Runner Express, providing commuter rail service to Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

Affordable Living

Belen offers some of the most affordable housing in the Albuquerque commuter zone, with a mix of historic homes, newer construction, and agricultural properties along the Rio Grande bosque. The Harvey House Museum, housed in a restored Fred Harvey hotel, is a landmark of railroad-era architecture. The Belen Fiestas, held each August, are one of the longest-running community celebrations in the state.
